What can interfere with the infra red signal?

As our conference system is based on infra red transmission, which is basically light (electro magnetic radiation) with a longer wavelength than the visible spectrum of the light. So there is always a risk of negative interference with strong IR transmitters like direct sunlight.

Sunlight
Naturally the system will NOT work in direct sunlight (no open air application). We tried the system in conference rooms with large windows with sunlight coming in (no clouds). The system was still able to operate. Only when we hold one of the delegate units close to the window directly into the sunlight, the audio starts declining in quality (artefacts and noise), but was still transmitted. So a standard conference room is ok for an IR system.

PLASMA screens
It is known, that PLASMA screens (flat screens) produce a lot of spurious IR transmission. This can interefere with the ATCS-60 (or any other IR conference system). There are some manufacturers producing blocking screens to install in front of the PLASMA screen to get rid off this problem.

In the UK a good source for PLASMA EMI filters is:

LCD-flat screens
The PLASMA screens are getting more and more replaced by LCD screens. LCD screens do not cause negative interference to the ATCS-60 system. So if possible, contractors should specify LCD screens rather than PLASMA screens.

Video Projector
As long as the projector is not directly firing into the IR antenna (placement) there is no negative effect expected.

RF-wireless in UHF, VHF, WLAN, Blue tooth, 2.4 GHz conference systems, 5.1 – 5.8 GHz conference systems
The ATCS-60 is immune to any interference from other RF devices.
