The most anticipated rock tour of 2009 features the world’s favourite heavy metal band. Hitting the road in support of their well-received Death Magnetic album, Metallica are heading to the UK and Europe in March. And the band’s scorching live sound starts with an all-Audio-Technica microphone line-up, hand-picked by long-term Metallica FOH engineer ‘Big’ Mick Hughes.
“I’ve been using Audio-Technica for years,” says Mick, “and I can’t really imagine using anything else.” Hughes has selected a wide variety of Audio-Technica mics for the up-coming tour, including ATM350 condenser clip-ons for toms, AE2500 dual-element mics for guitar cabinets, wired and wireless versions of the AE5400 condenser mic for vocals, ATM650 dynamics for snare and dual AT4050 condensers in a stereo configuration on guitar cabinets.
